The density of the cloth. This is the data that people don't pay much attention to, but the most important! The thread count is essential to the fabric industry. They always talk about “ multiply by ” (e.g., 110*90, 128*68, 65*78, 133*72), because the choices for thread count are very few. 40S and 60S are very normal. But there are few applications of 80S.

Thread count: in one inch (2.54 square centimeters) how many yarns in horizontal and vertical. Commonly 30S yarn 68* 68, 30S yarn 78*65, 40S yarn 110*90, 40S yarn 110* 80, 40S 90*90, 60S*40S yarn 173*117.

Combed: normally 29mm and above, very uniform threads, tidy and smooth.

Carded: a bit larger threads, less uniform (some thin and some thick).

Twill: the density is 133*72, 40*40.

Plain: the density is 76*68, 30*30, 100*90, 40*40.

The thread count refers to the warp and weft count in each square inch. “40 x 40/128 x 68" indicates that the counts of warp yarns and weft yarns are 40 respectively, and the thread count is 128 x 68. It’s also an important technical index for choosing beddings. Because the selections of fabric count are few, only including 60S, 40S, and 80S, so under the same count, the density, that is thread count, is most important factor to determine the quality of bedding. The higher the better!

Misconception 1: The more the count, the fabric is better, thicker or denser. My view: it’s not absolute. In the same density, the more the count, the fabric is better; the higher the density, the thicker the cloth; the lower the count, the thicker the yarns so that the thicker the cloth!

Misconception 2: Over 95% of beddings are made from 40S. Actually, 60S is often used in embroidery and jacquard. Both 40S and 60S are appropriate for tribute silk, satin, and jacquard. Hope you can get well-content beddings in YRF.
